Who Invented Soccer?
Widely known as football, soccer has quickly become one of
the worlds most popular sports, if not the most popular. But
who invented
soccer? Who should we be thankful towards
for the invention of this great game? How was it that soccer
came into existence?
The invention of soccer is still regarded as quite a big
mystery. Many countries claim them game for themselves.
However, early evidence suggests that the game was created over
2000 years ago in either China or Japan. Teams would use their
feet to kick around a leather ball. China and Japan would
compete against each other in this sport.
Artefacts from the United States dating over 6000 years have
also been discovered that may suggest the games invention
there. Stona balls were used in a game called "cuju"
(kickball).
Who Invented
Soccer - The Game Today
But who was it that formalised the game into the competitive
and globalised sport it is today? The English created the first
league in the early 1800's, and the Football Association was
formed in 1863. Soccer soon spread fast, first across Europe,
before taking the world by storm. The last few decades have
seen the biggest increase in the popularity of soccer,
especially in juniors, inspired by the awesome skills of the
professionals.
