The history of soccer in England was the first of the
leagues to be formed in the mid - late 19th century. The game
had broken out in England in the 1860's and many towns had
their own teams. As soccer grew across England, it gained great
popularity and soon spread to other countries who started and
joined leagues.
Being the first country with a league, it is no suprise that
England was dominant in winning it's games. Today, they still
remain a strong side, however, other countries team's have
caught up to the English and have overtaken their
dominance.
